Attraction Overview

670 meters above a picturesque gorge you will find the sightseeing platform of Orlovo Oko, in English known as the Eagles Eye. This incredible sightseeing spot revels stunning views of the gorge and the nearby villages. In the distance you will be able to see the mountain peaks of Bulgaria and Greece. On certain days, you may be lucky enough to see a golden eagle and wild goats, that are inhabitants of these parts.

Sit in the stone throne, where Alexander the great was said to have sat, down in the town of Perperikon. Find the rivers that run at the foot of the Mount and dip your hands in the cold, gold bearing waters. This site is not open all year round, it is open between the months of May through to October and is a guided tour that charges a small entrance fee.

Bulgaria is a country with very distinct seasons. They tend to have hot summers and long, cold winters, snow generally falls between the months of December through to the mid of March and especially in the mountainous areas of Bulgaria.  

Duty Free

If you are travelling from within the EU there are no limits on the amount or valued goods that you can import, providing that your goods are for your personal consumption. 

If you are travelling from the UK you are entitled to purchase all of your normal duty free products, all at tax-free equivalent prices. 


Getting Around

There are different types of buses in Bulgaria, all depending from where you are travelling from and where you are travelling too. These buses are cheap and efficient and operate well in several city centres. 

All of the Taxis are yellow colored cars and are all equipped with working meters. you will be able to just flag down a taxi in any city or town that you maybe in. All of the taxis will display their rates on the windows. Always make sure that the taxi meter is on as there are some dishonest drivers that charge you a flat fare, that is normally double or triple to what you should be paying. 


Before you travel to Bulgaria, make sure that you are up to date on all of your vaccinations.

There is a small risk of Hepatitis A, and you can catch this from contaminated food or the water in Bulgaria, regardless of where you are eating or staying. 


Bulgarian is the countries only official language and is spoken by the vast majority of the population.

Bulgarian is an Indo-European language and is written with the Cyrillic alphabet. 


You will be able to change your currency from your own country before leaving, however you will be able to buy Leva from banks and money exchanges throughout Bulgaria. 

Be aware of money changers on the street, they will not be legal, always stick to banks, hotels and the exchange bereaux.

Always check before you leave your country that your credit and or debit card will work in Bulgaria.


Mostly in the main tourist areas foreigners are targeted by thieves and pick pockets. there have been some reports of luggage being stolen from hotel rooms, so make sure your room is always locked and secured. 

Prostitution is not an illegal act in Bulgaria, so be aware to stay away from the streets where they work and stick to the main street routes.

Bulgaria have a lot of stray dogs, and they can be dangerous. avoid getting too close, especially is they are in a pack and take any animal bites seriously, as rabies and other animal borne diseases are common in Bulgaria.
