Attraction Overview

The natural environment in Estonia is influenced by the low population density.

The climate is temperate and mild. Estonia enjoy warm summers but are followed by fairly severe winters. because of the Baltic Sea the weather is often breezy and humid.

Average temperatures can range from 20.9ºC during the summer, where July is normally the hottest month, to -8ºC in the winter.

Duty Free

With Estonia being in the EU, if you are travelling from the UK you will be able to buy your duty free goods all at tax free, equivalent prices.

If you are travelling from within the EU there is no limit on the amount of valued goods that you can import, providing that they are for personal consumption only.

For your guidelines, you will be able to import the following; 800 cigarettes or 1kg of tobacco, 10 litres of spirits over 22% or 20 litres of alcoholic beverages less than 22%, 90 litres of wine and 110 litres of beer. 

Getting Around

The main transport in Estonia, and the major cities consist of bus, tram, trolley bus, train and ferry services.

The cities are very compact and easy to get around and the outer cities are easy to get to due to all the different types of  transport. 

The public transport systems normally start around 06.00 am and run all day up to the time of 23.00 pm. 


Before you leave for your holiday, get yourself a European Health Insurance Card, (EHIC). This card will allow you to seek help from the state provided health care at a reduced cost or even for free and will cover your treatment until you return back to the UK.



Estonian is a Uralic language, which is related to Finnish and is the official language of Estonia.

Standard Estonian is mainly based on the North Estonian language, where as South Estonian includes many unrecognized dialects.


Due to the country´s euro zone membership, they are currently using the Euro (€). 

ATMS are easy to get to and are located all around the cities and credit / debit cards are widely accepted. 


Estonia have had an increase in the tourist - targeted crimes, mainly petty theft. Pick pockets and mugging are the main crimes that are committed, especially in bars, pubs, nightclubs, hotels and in the Old Town of Tallin.

It is better for tourists to avoid unlit side streets and parks at night time. 

Be vigilant, leave any valuables in your hotel safe and carry the necessary.
